If you’re trying and failing to access your Virgin Media broadband this morning, it seems you are not alone. Thousands of users are complaining that the popular Internet Service Provider (ISP) is having issues and not working in parts of the UK including the South West.
Independent tracking website DownDetector, which monitors mentions across social media to track when web services are offline, is suggesting that thousands of Virgin users are currently experiencing the outage. In fact, at the time of writing, there are some 1,500 complaints that users can’t access the web. Speaking on DownDetector’s forum page one Virgin user said: “£52.50 a month for no service in Torbay. On hold for over an hour. I’ll find another provider at half the price and good service.!!!”
It’s unclear what is causing the gremlins but users have also been quick to complain via social media platforms such as Twitter.
One disgruntled Virgin user said: “Thanks @virginmedia for your internet going down AGAIN ready for my exams. If I fail, I’m taking you down with me.”
Whilst another added: “@virginmedia good morning. My broadband is down in the Exeter area. Any idea when it will be back?”
Virgin has now confirmed the broadband outage with a spokesperson telling Express.co.uk: “We’re aware of a fault affecting broadband and TV services for some of our customers in the South West. We are working as quickly as possible to restore services and apologise to those affected.”
Whilst rare, these huge outages can have a major impact on customers especially as many of us continue to work from home. Virgin is usually pretty quick to fix these type of issues so hopefully those affected will be back online soon.
Express.co.uk will bring you more updates as we receive them.
