'Still our Queen' Sarah Brown backs Monarch amid racism claims 'I didn't see anything'

Sarah Brown, the wife of former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, told Good Morning Britain that she did not witness any racism from the Royal Family during the events she attended with members of the monarchy. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed that one member of the Royal Family was concerned regarding how dark the skin colour of their child would be during an interview with Oprah Winfrey which aired on Sunday evening.

Mrs Brown said: “I can see that at no moment is the Queen’s behaviour or ways of treating them being called into question at all.

“As ever she remains our Queen exactly as we would expect.

“There are concerns around the issue of racism and wherever it is found those are things we have to tackle.

“I hope as the UK we have progressed through the pandemic and learning quite a lot in the last year.”

ITV’s Piers Morgan replied: “You would have hung around the royals quite a lot when you were in Downing Street and when Gordon was Chancellor.

“Did you ever witness any racism?”

Mrs Brown said: “I would not say that I hung around there, on a number of occasions I was very privileged to be able to attend certain events with them.

“So no, of course, I did not see anything.”

Oprah With Meghan and Harry is on ITV at 9pm on Monday, March 8. You can watch the full interview afterwards on the ITV hub.
