Alfredo Morelos often hits the headlines for all the wrong reasons but his antics during Rangers’ Europa League victory over Antwerp has brought him big priase from Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku.
The second leg of the match was tied at 1-1 and approaching half-time when Morelos burst down the right flank.
Only Antwerp defender Jeremy Pierre Gelin stood between the Rangers forward and the goal but then the 23-year-old started holding his hamstring and hobbled off the pitch.
Instead of racing towards the goal, Morelos stopped play so that his opponent could receive immediate treatment.
Antwerp players rushed to the Rangers star to shake his hand and thank him for the brilliant act of sportsmanship.
His incredible act did not go unnoticed across Europe either, with leading players taking their time to compliment the Scottish Premiership’s bad boy.
Inter forward Lukaku wrote: “Fair play to Morelos from Glasgow Rangers. Through on goal and stopping for an injury of the opponent.. great sportsmanship.”
Rangers went on to win the match 5-2 meaning they progressed to the last 16 with a 9-5 aggregate victory.
