Rishi Sunak slammed for ignoring IR35 as contractors face 'blanket bans' from businesses

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Ben Mason, employment law partner at Aaron & Partners, said the fact Mr Sunak skipped any announcement about IR35 was not surprising to industry experts.

Instead, the reforms will likely come into place on April 6, the first day of the new tax year, with an announcement or confirmation expected shortly before.

Mr Mason said: “We have already heard that many large businesses could issue blanket bans on working with contractors to avoid the added responsibility and liability that comes with these changes.

“During what is already a challenging period for many contractors, the Government must recognise the potential impact this could have.
