Princess Charlotte's birthday photos set to be hidden from Kate and William's social media

Joining the nation, William and Kate will not publish pictures of their daughter on their social media pages on Sunday. The couple had planned to share pictures of their daughter on her sixth birthday but will now join in the four-day absence from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. William, who is the President of the Football Association, even released a statement confirming his intent to do so on Friday.

The Duke of Cambridge has also spoken out against racist abuse some sports stars have suffered due to sick online trolls.

In a statement on the Kensington Royal Twitter feed, he said on Friday: “As President of the FA I join the entire football community in the social media boycott this weekend. W.”

Earlier this year, William also spoke out against the abuse some footballers had received online and urged the respective platforms to take action.

He said: “Racist abuse – whether on the pitch, in the stands, or on social media – is despicable and it must stop now.

“We all have a responsibility to create an environment where such abuse is not tolerated, and those who choose to spread hate and division are held accountable for their actions.

“That responsibility extends to the platforms where so much of this activity now takes place.”

William also launched the Heads Up campaign in 2019 in partnership with the FA and Royal Foundation.

The initiative is designed to use the influence of football to discuss mental health issues with players, friends and families.
