Prince Philip faced Queen’s wrath after security argument woke her – ‘What are you doing!'

Royal editor and author Rob Jobson shared a few extracts from his latest book on Prince Philip which he unearthed after speaking to sources who work directly with the Royal Family. Mr Jobson explained one story which saw the Duke of Edinburgh being put in his place by the Queen after a heated argument in the early morning woke her up. The author also said Prince Philip once revealed the secret of a long marriage was “spending a lot of time apart and have different interests”.

Speaking to ITV’s Royal Rota podcast, Mr Jobson shared with ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship a few anecdotes he may not have known about Prince Philip.

He told the podcast: “There was another incident in the book which I found very funny after I spoke to various unnamed sources.

“There was a story at Balmoral where if [Philip] was on holiday he was very much on holiday.

“And he was up at 5am, he’s a very active character, long before the Queen’s pipers woke her up with the pipes.

“So he starts a huge row with a personal protection officer who was allocated to him and asked him ‘what are you doing?’

“He said ‘I don’t need you I’m on holiday’.”

Mr Jobson added the two began to argue over keys which the Royal Marine protection officer walked away with.

He said Prince Philip “erupted” into “foul-mouth abuse” at around 5.30am.

Prince Philip died on April 9 and was buried at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 17.

Only 30 people could attend the service as those working at the event are excluded from the total number allowed.

Prince Harry briefly returned to the UK for the funeral to which he reportedly felt a “frosty reception” at from senior royals.

The Duke of Sussex has recently helped organise Vax Live, a concert that sought to raise money for vaccine procurement programmes across the world.

The prince urged governments to not “politicise” science as the event went on to raise millions for schemes like the World Health Organisation’s COVAX programme.

Prince Harry is set to return to the UK in July for the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue at Kensington Palace.

But insiders told the Sun Newspaper that both Harry and William have insisted on giving separate speeches at the event as their relationship appears to have not improved.
