Prince Philip dead: Will there be a national day of mourning?

Will there be a national day of mourning?

As the news broke, Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh in Downing Street and said “he helped to steer the Royal Family and the monarchy so that it remains an institution indisputably vital to the balance and happiness of our national life.”

Following the death of Prince Philip, the UK will enter a national period of mourning which will last until the funeral.

The national mourning period is to be “observed by all,” including national representatives serving abroad.
