Prince Harry: ’No one can replace what he did’ says expert
Prince Harry built a close bond with the Duchess of Cambridge during her years as a girlfriend of Prince William and after the couple tied the knot 10 years ago. The brothers are also known to have been very close in the past and lived through the trauma of losing their mother Princess Diana at a young age.
Together, Kate, William and Harry carried out several engagements and led the Royal Foundation – the charitable body of the three royals – for years.
Moreover, they worked on important projects such as Heads Together, which aimed at changing the conversation surrounding mental health.
However, according to a royal commentator, marrying Meghan had an impact on Prince Harry’s relationship with his brother and sister-in-law.
Appearing on the ITV documentary The Day Will and Kate Got Married, royal author Katie Nicholl said: “William and Harry for many years have had an incredibly close relationship, you know, this unbreakable bond between two brothers who lost their mother.

“But when Harry met the one, he couldn’t live in the shadow of the Cambridges for any longer.”
Speaking about the bond of the brothers at the time of Kate and William’s wedding, Ms Nicholl also said: “They were incredibly popular.
“They were the sons that we had seen grow up without a mother, who’d walked behind her coffin, that memory was very much etched on the nation’s heart and in its memory.”
Prince Harry and Meghan got married in May 2018 at St George’s Chapel.

After a few months, in late 2018, the Duke and Duchess announced their intention to move out of Nottingham Cottage, where Harry had been living for years, and to transfer to Windsor’s Frogmore Cottage.
This relocation outside of the grounds of Kensington Palace meant there was going to be a wider physical distance between the Dukes.
In early 2019, the brothers also split households, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex getting their own communications team based at Buckingham Palace rather than sharing one with the Cambridges at Kensington Palace.

Meghan and Harry also left the Royal Foundation to create their own charitable organisation – the Sussex Royal Foundation, which was officially founded in July 2019 but never launched.
Prince Harry himself acknowledged a rift in the relationship with his brother during the documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, when he told journalist and friend Tom Bradby he and William were “on different paths”.
He said: “Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under.
“Inevitably, you know, stuff happens. But we’re brothers. We’ll always be brothers.

“We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and, as I know, he will always be there for me.
“We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we are so busy.
“But I love him dearly. And you know the majority of stuff is created out of nothing.
“But as brothers, you know, you have good days, you have bad days.”
The royals on Christmas Day 2018
Prince Harry voiced a very similar sentiment during his landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey, broadcasted more than 12 months after he and Meghan announced their plans to step back as senior royals.
Speaking about the impact Megxit has had on Kate and William, royal author Robert Lacey said during the documentary dedicated to their wedding day: “The conflict between William and Harry will be resolved in one way or another.
“In a sense, life for William and Catherine became more simple when Harry and Meghan moved out of the picture and there was no competition anymore, or no confusion about who were the star couple.
“But the challenge of that is that they are now the star couple and the only couple.”
