Prince Harry 'changed so much' after marriage to Meghan Markle when 'William rift' opened

Prince Charles ‘frustrated’ at Prince Harry says royal expert

Harry is said to have been in contact with William and his father, Prince Charles, since his and Meghan’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. Gayle King, an anchor for This Morning on CBS – the same network which broadcast the programme – said she had called the couple to “see how they were feeling”. She reported that talks between Harry and his family were “not productive”.

The royals are attempting to restore their image after Harry and Meghan made several allegations against them, including issues on race and mental health.

While the Royal Family is largely unable to respond individually – a result of years of protocol – William told reporters last week that his was “very much not a racist family”.

Tensions have simmered ever since Meghan and Harry departed the UK for the US last year in what was quickly dubbed Megxit.

Many royal commentators have noted the difference in the Firm’s dynamic since Meghan and Harry married.

Last year, just months after Megxit, body language expert Judi James told podcast ‘Pod Save the Queen’ that Harry had changed considerably since his 2018 wedding.

She pinpointed subtle signs from both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before the Megxit announcement.

When host Ann Gripper asked Ms James whether she had picked up on Meghan and Harry being unhappy, she replied: “She (Meghan) clearly played it very well.

“Full marks to her, because she said she’d gone through a lot of grief, but she never showed it.

“And, I think the actress side helped her get through that.

“I looked through acres of footage, and she’d always got a good smile on her face, she always looked engaged, she’d always got quite an excited eye expression.

“And she always looked clearly besotted with Harry, and I think that possibly made it less obvious.”

On Harry, however, she said: “I think we saw Harry change so much.

“I could always see the rift between him and William anyway, going back right to the first days of Harry’s marriage, and meeting Meghan.

“He went from being this jack-the-lad character – and we used to see him all the time with William, looking like a couple of jokers!

“If they turned up at weddings – oh, here they come, what are they going to get up to! Particularly Harry.

“And then suddenly, and I think it could have been put down to the fact that he had got responsibilities in life at last, with a wife and then a child.

“But, I think he was looking way too unhappy, way too serious, way too annoyed, really.

“Clearly he had a very, very difficult decision to make.”

Meanwhile, in a statement, Buckingham Palace said they were “saddened” to hear of Meghan and Harry’s struggles.

It read: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.

“Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”
