Prince Charles makes 'surprise' private video message to the US amid plummeting popularity

Prince Charles made a “surprise” appearance in the USA via a private video message. The Prince of Wales delivered a virtual speech to attendees of the University of Miami’s business school for their annual Chief Sustainability Officer Summit. Royally Obsessed podcast host Rachel Bowie discussed the future king’s outreach.

Ms Bowie told listeners: “What a surprise to see Prince Charles at your place of work – that’s so awesome.

“I saw the speech, it was lengthy, it was really impressive too.

“We know the royals do a lot of public events and we always cover those.

“But knowing that they do so much behind the scenes, and privately too, is great too.”

She continued: “It wasn’t really covered that much because it was a private video message.

“But it’s so interesting to think how many of those there are.”

In the video, the royal said: “The private sector has a crucial role to play in delivering the solutions we so desperately need for nature, people, and planet, but no industry or business can do it alone.”

He also urged leaders to work innovatively and collaboratively “to unlock the huge and significant opportunity afforded by a sustainable future—the growth story of our time”.

According to a Morning Consult poll of 2,200 US adults pre-interview and 838 post-interview, the future king’s net favorability ratings declined.

He also suffered a hit in the UK as well, according to a YouGov poll.

The prince had a noticeable drop in popularity following the interview, going from 57 percent viewing favourably to 49 percent.

He was the only royal that had a more negative view about him following the interview.

Other senior members, like the Queen and Prince William, remained unaffected.
