The UK Government’s vaccine minister Nadhim Zawari and Good Morning Britain’s Adil Ray clashed over public perception of Boris Johnson’s lack of interviews with morning TV shows. The Conservative MP shut down Mr Ray, claiming that he had a better understanding of what the British public wanted to hear the Prime Minister discuss due to his previous job experience.
Good Morning Britain co-host also clashed with the Vaccine Minister on Boris Johnson’s almost four-year absence from ITV’s morning programme.
Ms Reid asked: “Why does he not do interviews? It has been almost four years and we have not interviewed him as Prime Minister.
“It is quite remarkable for the leader of a party not to be interviewed.
“I know we are not alone on that, other programmes have put in bids for him today and been turned down.”
Mr Zawari said: “That is unfair because when he does the press conference, the media ask him direct questions and have follow-ups.”
The GMB co-host replied: “That is very different because if it is one journalist speaking and getting one question that is not the same as doing an interview.”
