Meghan Markle defended by Chrissy Teigen after Duchess reached out over maternal grief

The former model said Meghan is “so kind” and recounted the first time they spoke as Ms Teigen was grieving her son Jack. She also defended the Duchess, hitting out at critics who want to make her out to be “malicious” and “crazy”.

Ms Teigen, who is married to US singer John Legend, told Andy Cohen on the ‘Watch What Happens Live’ after-show: “She’s been so kind to me ever since we connected.

“She had written me about baby Jack and loss.

“She is really wonderful and so kind. Just as kind as everyone says she is.”

She added: “My God, what is actually wrong with people where they have to make this person out to be malicious or crazy when it’s just as simple as them being as kind as everybody says they are.

“She’s a really wonderful girl.”

The Duchess experienced the loss of her unborn baby last year and opened up about her “almost unbelievable grief” in a touching opinion piece in The New York Times.

She wrote: “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp.

“I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right.

“I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”
