The high street bank announced the offer last week, which requires customers to open a new Halifax Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Account and to switch their old account via the Current Account Switch Service. Should a person do so, then they could get a payment of £100.
A caveat means that it’s not open to all consumers.
Halifax states that a person wouldn’t be eligible for the £100 payment if, since April 2018, they’ve received an incentive for switching to a Halifax current account.
Martin Turner, Head of Personal Current Accounts at Halifax said: “It’s never been a better time to open a new account with Halifax.
“Both our new Reward and Ultimate Reward accounts come with the opportunity to earn a fantastic lifestyle benefit and now new applicants will also receive £100 when they switch to us when using the industry switching service.
“The switching process takes just seven days and customers will receive their £100 before the switch is complete.”
Halifax announced changes to the Reward Current Account earlier this year, with these taking effect on June 1.
Now, the account is either free or has £3 monthly fee, with this being based on monthly deposits into the account.
Those who pay in £1,500 or more each month do not face the monthly fee, while those who contribute less than this amount are charged £3 each month.
The following monthly rewards from the bank are:
- 2 x Digital Movie Rentals with RakutenTV
- 3 x Digital Magazines
- 1 x Cinema Ticket at any UK Vue Cinema (each ticket valid for 12 months)
- £5 paid directly into the account.
Another aspect to this account is that consumers can get up to 15 percent cashback via Cashback Extras.
