Cleaning: Lynsey Crombie shares lemon hack to remove odour from microwave

Cleaning has never been more important than it has been in the last year due to the pandemic. Store bought products can also be extremely expensive, especially when buying multiple for each room in the home. Expert Lynsey Crombie has shared how you can use lemons when it comes to cleaning your home.

Chopping boards, especially wooden ones, can be a breeding ground for bacteria when not cleaned often.

To clean it using lemon, Lynsey started by adding salt to the entire chopping board.

She then sliced a lemon in half before scrubbing the chopping board clean.

The salt acts as an abrasive to lift stains and the lemon juice can help to leave it smelling great.

It can be used as a mild abrasive to target grime as well as dissolving dirt and tacking odours.

She said: “Sprinkle that on [bicarbonate of soda] like so and grab your white vinegar and spray it.

“Leave these two to do the job and it will work.”

White vinegar and bicarbonate of soda make a great solution for cleaning.

It can be made by mixing around one cup of baking soda with around two tablespoons of white vinegar.

Stir the mixture with a fork until lumps dissolve and water can be added to create more of a solution rather than a paste.

Adding a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into half a lemon is also a great abrasive cleaner to cleans shower screens.
