The historic model has only had one previous owner making it a “rare opportunity” for collectors. Car and Classic – who are selling the car – said the model has been stored in a garage almost its whole life and had been carefully maintained.
The vehicle was rarely used in bad weather and has only been driven 58,366 miles since it was produced in 1979.
Nicknamed ‘Bessie’ by the owner, the car had huge sentimental value to the owner and was only being auctioned due to his unfortunate death.
Chris Pollitt, head of editorial at Car and Classic claimed the model was “practical and ready to use” but would stir the attention of collectors and Ford fans.
He said: “With one owner, complete history and no questions, this is a very rare opportunity to own a truly original, unmolested Mk2 Escort.

Mechanically, the car starts with no issues at all but Car and Classic said it could benefit from a tune-up and a service.
The car came with no engine leaks and the exhaust was also found in a good condition.
The car will be exempt from road tax and MOT this coming April due to the historic vehicle exemption.
They said small areas of corrosion were confined to the off-side wheel arch while they noticed the headlights had slightly deteriorated.
Inside, the model is still in excellent condition with no signs of damage to the seats, dashboard or carpets.
Alongside the car, sellers will receive the huge history file which the owner meticulously kept in order.
The model’s original sale documentation and a wad of former MOT certificates and tax discs are also included.
The owner’s handbook and accessories brochures are also included alongside aftermarket accessories such as mud flaps and reflective door guards.
The Ford Escort sale begins today and will run for seven days through an online auction.
Car and Classic added: “Of course, the Escort also has a reputation for being an entertaining drive, with the bonus of low running costs, superb parts and support availability.
“It also has to be mentioned that the values of the RWD Ford Escorts are considered to be safe investments, especially for cars that offer this level of originality.
“This particular example, thanks to its one owner status, low mileage and potential to bring up to scratch means that we can end this summary by confidently stating that, by being one of the UK’s best-loved Fords, it practically sells itself.”
