BBC News’ Reeta Chakrabarti teases Strictly Come Dancing stint 'Enormously tempting'

BBC News’ Reeta Chakrabati’s revealed she may be tempted to join the next Strictly Come Dancing line-up. The star studded dancing competition will be back on TV screens this autumn with a new line-up – will she follow in the footsteps of BBC colleagues Naga Munchetty and Mike Bushell?

Every year there is speculation amongst fans about which celebrities will be hitting the dance floor and it seems the interest in the 2021 series has already begun.

It’s currently too early for producers to reveal the line-up, but some big names are rumoured to be on the list.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Times she revealed she’s been doing lots of dancing in lockdown.

Bill Bailey surprised everyone with his dance moves last year and went on to win the series, seeing off competition from Maisie Smith, HRVY and Jamie Laing.

He lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy with his professional dance partner Oti Mabuse.

The pair even broke some Strictly Come Dancing records with the win as Oti achieved a Strictly first of winning two series in a row and at the age of 55, Bill became the oldest winner in the history of the show.

Oti recently opened about the “hard” time she had after winning two years in a row and then being forced back into lockdown.

Speaking to Irish News she said: “To be honest, you can’t really say it was hard when there are people in the front line who have found it even harder, and there are people who haven’t even been outside and have to stay in and shield.

“But I came back from this completely incredible experience, I did something I didn’t think anybody would do, and then went into lockdown.”
Opening up about not being able to work, she noted: “It was a shock to the system.

BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One later this year.
